Prince Naif Center for Health Science Research
2012Task ↑ ↓
Our task was to install an integrated roof cladding solution for the Prince Naif Research Center that was built to play a leading role in enriching research in the health field, and that its construction would meet the highest architectural standards.
Challenges ↑ ↓
The building was inspired by a monolith and was designed by the renowned Henning Larsen architects, famed for some of the world’s greatest architecture, and hence the roof had to meet the highest architectural standards set. The installation of the design proved challenging given the building was to maintain a flat and smooth metal envelope surface, while equally ensuring there was to be no compromise in regard to the waterproof nature of the building. Our entire team worked diligently, determined to find a complementary solution to this stunning and sophisticated structure.
Solution ↑ ↓
The building had a significant cut to its front façade and given one of its primary purposes was to let in light in addition to creating a cool and vibrant atmosphere, INMA had to complement the high architectural standards achieved in creating the roofing solution with Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) over the standing seam. While the ACP gave the building a smooth exterior, the Riverclack standing seam inside gave full watertightness with hidden gutters to drain the rainwater. Specially designed clamps were used to fix the ACP above the standing seam roofing system.

“To create a world-class research center that was not simply fit for scientific purpose, but that would stand the test of time as a benchmark in the research field through considered architectural design provided the many constructors with several challenges, but through their contemporary roofing solution INMA certainly played a significant part in making the center the scientific and architectural landmark it deserves to be.”
